Venous Lakes
Venous lakes are small soft blue lumps that tend to be isolated and are commonly found on the ears and lips. The venous lakes are caused by small blood vessels, which become enlarged and more prominent over time. The laser works by heating up and shrinking the vessel to reduce or remove the venous lake.
Usually, 1-2 treatments are required.
During Treatment
The laser is pulsed over the venous lake, which creates a heat reaction to thermo-coagulate blood vessels. This causes the body to re-absorb the blood vessels to shrink and remove the venous lake.
After Treatment
Irritation, mild itching, or a warm sensation (like sunburn) may occur within 48 hours.
Mild swelling.
The venous lake can look darker or grey, which is normal and will fade as the skin heals.
